Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies CodeChaseDeal uses and why, and how you can manage or disable cookies through your browser or our Cookie Consent Center.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (laptop, tablet, or phone) when you visit it. Cookies make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and help site owners understand how visitors use the site so they can improve it.
Cookies may be set either directly by the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by third-party services that are embedded on the website ("third-party cookies", for example analytics, advertising, or social media widgets).
2. Legal basis
Our placement of cookies is governed by the EU ePrivacy Directive, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and similar laws in other jurisdictions. Our legal basis is:
- Strictly Necessary cookies: Legitimate interest — they are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off.
- Analytics and Marketing cookies: Your explicit consent — obtained through our Cookie Consent Banner, revocable at any time.
You can withdraw consent to non-necessary cookies at any time by clicking the Cookie Settings link in the footer. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
3. Categories of cookies we use
These cookies are required for the Site to operate. You cannot refuse them. They are usually set in response to actions that are equivalent to a request for service, such as logging in, submitting a form, or saving a coupon preference.
| Cookie name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
codechasedeal_session |
1st party (session) | Session / 2h | Laravel session cookie. Remembers your session state across page loads (e.g. whether you submitted a form, flashed messages). |
XSRF-TOKEN (fallback) |
1st party (session) | 2 hours | Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) protection token. Required for any form submission (contact, subscribe, sign-in, digest vote). |
remember_web_* |
1st party (persistent) | 12 months (configurable) | Remember-me cookie. Optional: set only when you tick "Remember me" at subscriber login. Encrypted, contains your user id and remember token. |
ccd_consent |
1st party (persistent) | 12 months | Stores your cookie consent choices (necessary/analytics/marketing). Always set even when you decline analytics, so we remember not to ask again. |
ccd_seen_banner |
1st party (persistent) | 12 months | Flag used to hide the cookie banner after you've made any choice. Does not track you. |
subscriber_session_* |
1st party (session) | Session | Subscribers-only session cookie for the member portal. Required to stay signed in across preferences pages, voting, commenting, and unsubscribe flows. |
cart_* (future) |
1st party (session) | Session | If/when we launch cart-based features, this cookie remembers saved codes between pages. Currently not set for 99% of visitors. |
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Site so we can improve performance and the quality of content. They are only set after you accept the consent banner and choose "Accept all" or explicitly enable this category in Cookie Settings.
| Cookie name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga / _ga_* |
3rd party (Google) | 2 years | Google Analytics 4. Distinguishes visitors, measures engagement, tracks sessions. More info. |
_gid |
3rd party (Google) | 24 hours | Google Analytics. Identifies unique visitors for daily engagement reports. |
plausible_* / _paq (future) |
1st/3rd party | 24 h / 13 months | If we switch to Plausible or Matomo privacy-focussed analytics, cookies will carry these prefixes and be documented here. |
These cookies are used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on other sites (retargeting). They do not store personal data directly, but they do uniquely identify your browser and device. You can disable them at any time via Cookie Settings — turning them off will not remove ads but will make them generic and non-personalised.
| Cookie name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
_fbp / _fbc |
3rd party (Meta) | 90 days / 3 months | Meta Pixel conversion attribution when a coupon clicked from CodeChaseDeal results in a purchase. Used for reporting only when you opt in. More info. |
fr / tr |
3rd party (Meta / X) | Varies | Social retargeting: enables ad platforms to attribute coupon referrals and exclude existing subscribers from paid acquisition campaigns. |
These cookies enhance functionality and remember your non-registration preferences (e.g. light/dark theme, preferred country filter, last sorting choice). Setting them is optional but improves your experience.
| Cookie name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
ccd_country |
1st party | 30 days | Remembers your preferred country filter for the Stores index (e.g. US / GB / IN). |
ccd_theme |
1st party | 12 months | Remembers light/dark theme preference if we add a toggle. |
ccd_sort_coupons |
1st party | 7 days | Remembers the last sort order you chose on the coupons index (latest / most-popular / ending-soon). |
4. Third-party cookies
Some content embedded on the Site (videos, social media share widgets, partner reporting pixels, fonts, CDN libraries) may place their own cookies on your device. These are governed by the third party's own Cookie Policy — we encourage you to review it:
- Google (Analytics, Fonts, reCAPTCHA, Maps)
- Meta Platforms (Facebook / Instagram)
- Cloudflare CDN
- Bootstrap Icons & CDN (CDN calls only, no cookies directly set)
5. Managing cookies: browser controls & DNT
You can manage or disable cookies directly in your browser. Note that deleting or blocking cookies may affect the functionality of the Site — for example, you may not be able to stay logged in, submit forms, or save preferences.
| Browser | Official guide |
|---|---|
| Chrome | Delete, allow & manage cookies in Chrome |
| Firefox | Enhanced Tracking Protection |
| Safari (macOS) | Manage cookies and website data in Safari |
| Safari (iOS) | Clear cookies and history on iPhone/iPad |
| Edge | Delete cookies in Microsoft Edge |
| Opera | Cookie preferences in Opera |
"Do Not Track" (DNT) signals: Most browsers allow you to turn on a DNT header. Because there is no universal standard for interpreting it, CodeChaseDeal currently does not change its behavior based on DNT signals. Instead, please use the consent controls on this page (Cookie Settings) or your browser controls to opt out of non-necessary cookies — both methods are guaranteed to work.
6. Cookie banner and consent: how it works
- On your first visit, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen describing the categories of cookies used.
- You have four choices:
- Accept all — sets all four categories (Necessary + Analytics + Marketing + Functional).
- Essential only — only Strictly Necessary cookies are placed.
- Cookie Settings — opens a modal where you can toggle each consent category individually.
- Learn more — opens this Cookie Policy page.
- Your choice is saved in the
ccd_consentcookie for 12 months, after which you will be asked again. - You can change your mind any time by clicking the Cookie Settings link in the footer, or the inline shortcut near the top of this document. The stored consent is updated immediately, and any previously-set non-necessary cookies are deleted the next time you load a page.
Declining analytics or marketing cookies does NOT reduce the number of coupons you see, disable the contact form, or prevent subscription. CodeChaseDeal works fully with Essential only consent.
7. International data transfers
If you accept analytics or marketing cookies, data collected via those cookies may be processed outside your country of residence (for example, Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC in the United States, and Meta Pixel data may be processed by Meta in Ireland or the US). Where these transfers occur, they are carried out under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or other adequacy mechanisms recognised by the European Commission. You can prevent any such transfer by declining non-necessary cookies in Cookie Settings.
8. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding personal data collected via cookies:
- The right to access your personal data;
- The right to rectification of inaccurate data;
- The right to erasure ("right to be forgotten");
- The right to restrict or object to processing;
- The right to data portability;
- The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Data Protection Lead at privacy@codechasedeal.com. We respond to all valid requests within 30 calendar days.
9. Children
CodeChaseDeal is not directed to and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 16. We do not place marketing or analytics cookies on devices we have reason to believe belong to children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact privacy@codechasedeal.com and we will take steps to remove that information and delete associated cookies.
10. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example, when we add a new analytics provider, change cookie categories, or update legal disclosures. If we make material changes (new cookie categories, new purposes, or changes that expand the scope of our processing), we will re-prompt you for consent on your next visit and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
11. Relationship to other policies
This Cookie Policy should be read together with our:
- Privacy Policy — explains how we handle your personal data beyond cookies;
- Terms of Service — the legal agreement between you and CodeChaseDeal;
- Disclaimer — limitations of liability and affiliate disclosures.
